Pure Power Mouthguard™ and Pure Power Trainer™

Where Your Smile Begins
Calgary, Alberta

Pure Power MouthGuard LogoWhether you aspire to become a professional or are simply a dedicated amateur, you know how important it is to use the right equipment to get the best performance.    Running shoes give the proper support without being too heavy.  Bike pedals can allow you to pull as well as push.  A putter that allows you to stand in the proper position, hit the ball straight with a predictable power level and follow-through.  All of these can shave off seconds, minutes, or strokes.

And if all these are good investments, what about a mouthpiece that reduces stress on your upper spine to promote good posture, balance, and strength?  What if this mouthpiece also positioned your jaw to promote open airways so your lungs get the oxygen they need when you are pushing your limits?  And what if it kept your body from wasting vital resources clenching your teeth when that energy is needed elsewhere?

The Pure Power Mouthguard and the Pure Power Trainer (PPM/PPT) are mouthpieces designed using the principles of neuromuscular dentistry to be worn during your athletic activities.  They reduce some of the negative impacts that malocclusion can have on your performance whether your activity isPPM

The Science Behind the Trainer

Neuromuscular dentistry is dentistry focused not just on the teeth, but on the entire system of teeth, bones, muscles, and other soft tissues in the head and neck.  Malocclusion, or bad bite, is when your teeth don't fit together in an optimal fashion, but the effects of malocclusion go far beyond just the teeth.  With malocclusion, you often have jaw muscles that strain to put the jaw into position, so you have your hard and soft tissues constantly fighting against one another.  Because these soft tissues are attached to your spine and are responsible for keeping your airways open, neuromuscular dental problems can contribute to breathing problems and misalignment of the upper spine.

Pure Power MouthGuard in CalgaryThe first step in getting fitted for a PPM/PPT is alleviating pre-existing muscle tension using the TENS system to massage jaw muscles.  Then Dr. Cload uses the Myotronics K-7 diagnostic equipment to determine the position at which your jaw muscles are at their best resting state.  Once this is determined, your custom-fitted PPM/PPT is designed to keep your jaw in this position.  You will then experience great comfort and increased performance as the PPM/PPT puts aside your malocclusion problems so your body can focus on the task at hand.

The PPM/PPT Difference

PPM/PPT is different from other mouthguards, which have protection as their only goal.  Unfitted mouthguards are barely sufficient and can be bad for your teeth.  Boil-and-bite mouthguards are little better, as they simply conform to your malocclusion and do nothing to improve the alignment of your jaw while you work out.

Although PPM/PPT mouthguards are not technically neuromuscular treatment appliances, they do apply the principles of neuromuscular dentistry to promote performance-enhancing alignment of the jaw during workouts and games.  You will feel the difference in performance from the first time you slip it in until you reluctantly take it out.
