General Dentistry in CalgaryWhere Your Smile Begins
Calgary, Alberta

It is very important that you have a general dentist you like and trust. Taking care of your mouth and teeth is just as important as taking care of your heart and general health. Canadian general dentist, Dr. Steven Cload, focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of disorders and diseases that affect the teeth, mouth and gums. Simply put, general dentist, Dr. Cload, provides services related to oral hygiene and the health of your teeth.

With advances in both technique and technology, a visit to the dentist need not be the terrifying experience it used to be. Not only is Dr. Cload a general and cosmetic dentist, he has also been trained by the prestigious Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) in the area of neuromuscular dentistry, a branch that focuses on the joints of the jaw and the disorder caused by a misaligned temporomandibular joint (TMJ/TMD).

Prevention and Treatment

The proverb says, Prevention is better than cure, and the dental team at Southcentre Dental Clinic firmly believes this is true. By coming in for routine checkups and teeth cleanings, you can help prevent very serious dental problems from arising. We cannot promise that you will never have a cavity or never need porcelain veneers if you see Dr. Cload regularly, but by coming in for routine cleanings and checks, we can closely monitor your dental health and catch any and all problems in the early stages. We can inspect your teeth and gums for early signs of decay or disease and provide you treatment, if necessary, right away.

Tooth-colored Fillings

If your teeth are showing signs of decay, there are a variety of treatment options including tooth-colored fillings. Long gone are the unsightly silver amalgam fillings of yesteryear. Now, patients can have a beautiful smile, and no one will even know you have fillings because they look so much like your natural teeth. The procedure to fill your teeth is simple and painless. After just a short amount of time, you will leave our office with newer, stronger teeth that can last several years.

Root Canals

Dr. Cload can also perform a root canal if necessary. This is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly damaged or has become infected. During a root canal, Dr. Cload will remove the nerves and pulp from inside the tooth; the tooth is then cleaned and sealed. When the pulp or nerve tissue is damaged, bacteria will multiply within the pulp chamber. The bacteria can then cause infection. We all know how painful an abscessed tooth can be. An abscess in the mouth can become very serious because the infection can cause:

  • Swelling in the head, neck and face area
  • Bone loss
  • Drainage issues

Some of the signs that a root canal may be necessary are:

  • Toothache upon chewing or the application of pressure
  • Prolonged sensitivity to temperature and pain
  • Discoloration of the tooth
  • Swelling of the gums
  • Persistent pimple on the gums

With so many advances in the diagnosis and treatment of dental problems, there is no reason to continue to put off your much-needed dental checkup. Dr. Steven Cload, Calgary general dentist, and his team will put you at ease and make sure your dental problems are found and treated in the early stages. Please contact Southcentre Dental Clinic today to schedule your initial appointment.
