At-Home Tooth Whitening vs. Professional Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is one of the most popular and most requested cosmetic dentistry procedures because it is one of the easiest ways to improve the look of your smile. It is a fast, safe and effective procedure that can leave your teeth looking brighter and more beautiful. As a cosmetic dentist in Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Steven Cload offers you two different methods for brightening your smile.

Your teeth are important to you-- they help you to chew and break down the foods you eat before your stomach and digestive system do the rest. However, some of the foods you eat and some of the beverages you drink can cause your teeth to lose their natural brightness. Years of drinking coffee or smoking can cause your teeth to brown or yellow. If the only thing that you feel like needs changing about your smile is the level of whiteness, then our tooth whitening procedures are just for you

At-Home Tooth Whitening

This method involves a kit that you take home and use to apply to your teeth every day for a predetermined period. During your first visit with Dr. Cload, he will make a mold of your teeth from which he will then design a custom-fitted tray that will fit your mouth. Once you are home, you will apply a special gel, designed to bleach your teeth gradually and safely, into the tray, which you will then wear for a few hours each day. You may wear the tray over night, depending on the level of whiteness you prefer.

The at-home whitening process is a gradual one that usually sees full results in two to three weeks.

Professional Tooth Whitening

At Southcentre Dental Clinic in Calgary, Dr. Cload and his team offer you the option of Zoom! tooth whitening. This process is extremely fast, usually taking only one visit to our clinic. Dr. Cload will isolate the teeth that you want whitened and then apply the Zoom! bleaching gel to your teeth. This gel contains special bleaching properties that react to a high intensity light, or laser, that is then focused on your teeth. The gel absorbs the light, brightening the color of your teeth up to ten shades!

Whether you choose the at-home whitening procedure or the professional whitening procedure, Dr. Cload and his team will work with you to ensure that you get the results that you want. If you are interested in learning more about tooth whitening / teeth whitening and are interested in either procedure, please contact Dr. Cload and the Southcentre Dental Clinic to set up a consultation if you live in the Calgary, Alberta area.
